Artist Statement:The Nature/Nurture Collection explores food as both sustenance and sacrament through fruits and the moths that love to eat them as much as we do. I included many agricultural ‘pest’ moths in this collection because I was intrigued by our common appetites and believe these points of connection with the natural world are a crucial antidote to isolation and precursor to empathy. Together, these fruit and moth elements become meditations on love and portals to understand how to nurture ourselves and others.
