Leslie Khounsombath is a first generation Lao-American from Washington State. She is a self-taught mixed media artist who works with stained glass, paint, wood-burning, fiber arts, and any medium that sparks her own curiosity. She is inspired by the deep and complex connection one can find with oneself, using art as its translation. Leslie hopes to inspire others into their most authentic self and continue creating installation artwork.
Today, I unveiled a deep family secret.
One so ugly, I wish it were never true.
How ironic it is, how little information it takes to shift an entire generational perspective.
And should I keep digging
even as it hurts?
..I unravel in grief,
Where I find myself soften.
Where I find myself
Galvanizing.
Sparking my own light in the darkness."
