I began photographing the Boardman Tree Farm in 2009. Comprised of 25,000 acres of hybrid poplar trees along a 6-mile stretch of I-84, it was a magical spot along an otherwise monotonous section of highway. In 2016, the tree farm was sold to a dairy and an agricultural products company so the land is now filled with cows, corn and potatoes. It took several years to clear the land but it is completely gone now. Even though it was a very ‘un-natural’ forest, it was a source of peace and creative inspiration.
