Whimsy Riot Transformation is a celebration of the radical change that can transpire through organic joy and exuberant and fanciful self expression. The random, disorderly profusion of beauty and chaos in nature is also within each of us: we grow, we shift, we climb, we bloom, we rebel, we transform. This is a portrait of a dear friend who, to me, embodies these ideas, and encourages me to embrace my own whimsical spirit to create, craft, and joyfully riot!
Jennifer Ewing is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist living and working in Shoreline, WA. She makes art in a range of styles and mediums, but is best known for her figurative work in soft pastels. Her work has been described as a range from 'lyrical impressionism' to 'romantic realism.' Her art is inspired by the works of Mary Cassatt, Claude Monet, Alphonse Mucha and John Singer Sargent: her work and focus combines these influences - women’s stories, the beauty of the natural world, the intimacy of portraiture, and the ethereal and organic forms of Art Nouveau. She is also a professional scenic artist and actress.
