Artist Statement:

This piece is my take on the MedicAlert logo to symbolize my personal connection to disability. I have been disabled throughout my life and what I have noticed is that disabilities are generally seen as sad or depressing because they are so restricting to your life, so I created a piece to symbolize the beauty of those with disabilities. Even with restrictions, we can still live and express ourselves in unique ways and enjoy the beauty of life from different perspectives. 

About the Artist:

Jak is an 18 year old two spirit artist from Olympia that works with many mediums and is working on getting his degree in fine arts. He mainly works with painting, digital art, and fiber arts and uses art as a way to express his personal experiences or opinions, some in the form of creative activism pieces to get more involved in his community.
