Artist Statement:

One of us likes the mountains. The other prefers the sea. We were told to pick one--that the middle point between the two is as dangerous and ineffective as a trip to Sacramento. Thus came the impetus for the canoe and our subsequent failed attempts.

A couple of artists and musicians, we have since found places where our true love meets. This artist book is one such place. Poem by Cory Ambrose Finch; photographs, printing, and book binding by Beá Ambrose

About the Artist:

Cory Ambrose Finch (he/him) is a trans Irish-American writer and poet. He works as a medical writer with an audience of 500k and is a subcategory winner of the Digital Education Awards. He has authored and edited several scientific/medical books and his literary works have appeared in Poetry Ireland’s Trumpet, S/He Speaks by Moonstone Press, and Tom Tom Magazine.

Beáta Ambrose (Bea) is an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker whose practice explores transformation, emergence, embodiment, and the tension between constraint and becoming. Working across traditional photography, letterpress, book arts, and alternative printmaking processes, their work investigates how identity and narrative take root through artifact, ritual, and repetition. Their projects often emerge as visual ethnographies of self and community, where the personal, the biological, and the familial intersect.
