Christopher Gerber’s practice moves between kinetic impressionism and mythic abstraction, using painting, drawing, and sculpture to explore motion, memory, and connection within living systems. He reflects moments where energy is visible—waves crashing against stone, water embracing lava, stars being born, ravens embracing in flight—and transports the viewer into a moment of presence in a timeless state moving with the forces of nature.
Through kinetic impressionism, Christopher’s paintings emulate movement rather than depicting static scenes. Brushstrokes, lines, and forms behave as vectors—carrying rhythm, direction, and momentum—so that the work feels caught in motion, a dance engaging the viewer.
Christoper’s passion and training for drawing is central to this process: a direct, responsive language that records attention in real time and anchors the larger work in observation and presence.
Alongside this, mythic abstraction allows him to step beyond literal representation. The use of abstract and symbolic forms allows access to archetypal patterns—motion and stillness, Chronos and Kairos, apocalypse and renewal.
Ecology is not a subject Gerber depicts from a distance; it is the inner foundation, the seed from which the work grows, blossoms, and fruits.
These paintings are meant to be portals and are designed to be felt physically—to slow the body, heighten awareness, and foster connection between viewer, material, and landscape. The work functions as a threshold: a place to pause, reflect, and re-enter relationship with the living world.
Christopher Gerber’s intention is to create work that reconnects—connecting people to place, to each other, and to the larger rhythms that sustain life. The work does not seek to instruct, but to invite: offering moments of stillness, motion, and recognition within an increasingly fragmented world.
