Artist Statement:

A foggy veil
Blends here and there
A thin place hovers
Where I stand and stare
What lies beneath
This soft grey mist
Imagination
Lost... adrift
Spells and whispers
Hide below
Dancing shadows
Light winds flow
My dark muse wonders
What waits between
Step in... explore
See and be seen
Not by eyes
But rather by gods
Some we've created
But most we have not

The poem and the image speak to the Celtic belief in "thin places" where our world and the spirit world are easily blended. For me, these places equate to the proverbial "rabbit hole" where reality and the esoteric intermingle.

About the Artist:

At age 13, A Pentax film camera was placed in Andrew’s hands by his late father Sammy D Carruthers. He wasn't so much introduced to an artistic instrument that day, but more a companion for life's journey. His art is in the way he explores life and finds moments that tell stories… it’s in those moments that he lifts his camera to his eye in hopes of documenting what lives there. Andrew’s primary muse is Mother Nature, particularly in spaces she chooses to whisper shadowy words that can only be heard when we slow down and listen.
