This piece is my playful ode to Equinox—a landscape caught between day and night, where opposites share the space in quiet harmony. I scrambled the phrase “And it was good.” like an anagram, exploring how meaning shifts when light and shadow collide. Straight on, the image feels confusing—like creation mid-spin. But from either side, it clicks into clarity: sunrise on one end, starlight on the other. I wanted the viewer to move, to shift perspective, and find balance in the blur. It’s a visual riddle, a layered moment, and a reminder that even when things feel split or uncertain… it’s still good.
Lerae [LEE-Ray] is a Washington-based artist who paints with her heart and ideas. Her work blends nostalgia, surreal textures, and clever wordplay, often exploring themes of duality, transformation, and emotional resonance. She layers meaning with motion, inviting viewers to shift their perspective—literally and figuratively. She’s drawn to tactile mediums like acrylic and pencil, favoring expressive brushstrokes and glowing compositions that blur the line between dream and memory. Her pieces often play with perception, revealing hidden clarity when viewed from unexpected angles. Inspired by seasonal transitions, local heritage, and the quiet magic of everyday moments, Lerae’s art is both whimsical and deeply intentional. She believes beauty lives in the in-between—and she’s here to paint it!
