Artist Statement:
Kristin’s work is rooted in a deep connection with the natural world. She explores painting with mediums such as watercolor, pen, alcohol ink, acrylic. She enjoys adding other natural materials like wool, paper, and thread whenever possible. Kristin is often on the hunt for found objects in nature to incorporate into her fiber sculptures. Her great love is wool; she loves the old-time, soulful, ancestral tradition of using wool to create. For her, art is a meditative process that she is constantly drifting back to and finding new things to explore, to feel, and to share.
About the Artist:
Kristin began creating artwork for sale during her high school years while she was deeply involved in the Art Club at her alternative high school in Shelton, WA, where students made and sold art to raise money for additional art supplies for their school. The experience was highly rewarding, and she has continued making and selling artwork ever since—often with the same goal of funding more art materials. For the last 25 years she has been making and selling art in Olympia, WA and Centralia, WA.
*This piece is currently on display at the Spring Equinox Show at the Tumwater Craft District until June 13th. Pickup and shipping of purchased artwork will be arranged by the artist at the close of the show.
