Artist Statement:
The blooms of Spring exist in wonderful balance upon the axis of dark/light, day/night, on the cusp of an ending and a new beginning, bringing a sense of hope and an acknowledgement of letting go of the season passed.
Featured flowers: Peony, Foxglove, Clematis, Ranunculus, Bearded Iris, Rose, Phlox and Verbascum.
Growing a garden is one of my greatest joys and teachers. As many of us have experienced, the therapeutic qualities of growing plants, sowing seeds and getting our hands in the soil are endless. The floral compositions I create are an extension of this ever-evolving relationship to the plants I grow.
About the Artist:
Carissa is a floral artist and gardener located in the Pacific Northwest. Celebrating the flowers and plants she grows in her garden, each design she creates is a culmination of months, sometimes years, of nurturing the elements that find their way to her works. For Carissa, the enrichment of the creative process is as important as the finished art pieces themselves. As her friends and neighbors know, her garden is a source of solace and inspiration to her, igniting the creative spark in all seasons.
*This piece is currently on display at the Spring Equinox Show at the Tumwater Craft District until June 13th. Pickup and shipping of purchased artwork will be arranged by the artist at the close of the show.
