Artist Statement:
My work as a textile artist and painter fuses my fascination and love for repeated patterns and natural textures. My mixed media paintings harness details inspired by nature and explore the balance of organic imagery with geometric shapes and forms. My aesthetic is COLOR! I am intrigued with the negative space that emerges as a painting develops and the spatial transparency that is created.
About the Artist:
Julie is a multi-disciplinary artist, hand-weaving one of a kind, luxurious art to wear textiles on her 10 harness floor loom, and creating bright, colorful, abstract paintings. Both her textile work and acrylic paintings are inspired by patterns and details found in nature. Julie lives and works in Olympia WA and has a degree in Textile Design from The Rhode Island School of Design.
