Artist Statement:
Summerland is a conceptualization of an afterlife, a place of rest and peace for souls before reincarnation or eternal rest. In this piece I have imagined the joining of two souls, intertwined. This piece represents many deeper elements of life but for me the sacred connection of man and animal. Summerland is one of three pieces in a series called Woodland Magic.
About the Artist:
Dia is an artist with a passion for the natural world, all its creatures, and whatever lies in between. She finds her passion for the arts in oil painting and mixed media through incorporating natural elements such as preserved leaves and taxidermy bugs. Among this passion, she is venturing through the world of adorning her art on skin through tattooing. No matter the medium, she is exploring vast subject matter and technique with her goal to connect with her community and spark conversation.
