Beyond the respite from summer heat and crowds, the cooler weather and warmer light create lovely atmospheric color. In October 2022, I traveled to Scotland to photograph in Edinburgh, Stirling and a few remote wilderness areas. Loch Chon is a freshwater loch in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. In fall, the warm colors of native oaks, birches and other broadleaf species on its banks contrast beautifully with the cooler shades of fir and spruce. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout the Artist:\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLou MacMillan explores nature, history, architecture and culture through photography. Encouraged by his artist mother to draw and paint, Lou later found photography more compelling. He now “paints with a camera” on his international travels, which have included Spain, Scotland, Antarctica, Italy, France and Ireland. He looks forward to visiting Prague, Czech Republic, this October.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLou has exhibited in Olympia, Portland, New York and Nebraska. He was artist-in-residence at the Mineral School in August 2017.
