My journey began in modern dance and evolved into a career as a massage therapist and yoga teacher—disciplines bound by deep, tactile listening. When my focus expanded outdoors to herbal medicine and sustainable foraging, I found those same somatic patterns echoed in the architecture of the wild. Today, I translate this dialogue into organic ceramic forms, navigating the raw, biomorphic rhythms of hand-building with clay and integrated organic materials. Through forms and tactile textures that suggest movement, I invite a visceral, somatic response—awakening a physical memory of the body in motion. Each piece transforms raw earth into an elegant, enduring form—held in stillness, yet resonant with subtle vitality.

About the Artist:

Kristin Quaid Reed is an Olympia, Washington-based ceramic artist whose work explores the intersections of movement, anatomy, and organic form. Her tactile studio practice bridges a professional background in dance and bodywork with the raw rhythms of the Pacific Northwest landscape to create elegant contemporary vessels. Combining a modern design sensibility with high-fire stoneware, she utilizes a blend of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques along with organic and foraged materials to bring grounded, kinetic ceramic art into the domestic space.

Artist Website

Follow on Instagram
