In some stories, herons appear noble and patient, while other cultures view it as lucky, foolish, or stubborn. What draws us to animals most, I believe, is our tendency to cast them as parts of ourselves-- both like and unlike us. I'm interested in the ways animals appear as a mysterious other while also being a familiar friend that helps us understand our own nature better.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout the Artist:\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKit DeForge is an Olympia resident and graduate of University of Redlands in Southern California. A mixed media artist, they enjoy working with many materials, including but not limited to acrylic, oil, watercolor, glass, paper, organic materials, wire, and found items.
