VINCENT LI

Most of my paintings are windows to another world where I depict an ensemble of characters in a moment of stillness or transition. A lot of my work is born out of my love for the whimsical and the strange, but also as a way to externalize my anxieties about getting older and finding a place for myself in the world. I also like to use my work to create a space for others to craft their own narrative using my work as a place of reflection. I say this because we often come into an art space with the baggage we carry and are not armed with the entire history of art at our disposal - so when you craft your story here, I hope you are also taking the time to wonder how your own life experiences may be informing your narrative.

My Tattoo work on the other hand, will reflect my love of old etchings, fantasy, sci-fi, speculative zoology, cryptids, nature, and whatever else I collect in the gremlin hole that is my brain. As a first year tattoo artist, my focus is mostly illustrative lineart with varying line weights and small fills. I hope to produce the best piece I can with each client and to cultivate a friendly atmosphere so that everyone involved is safe and comfortable.

Vincent Li attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing in 2017.
